How to Connect Notion
Connect your Notion workspace to Notion Recall in about a minute.
Notion Recall reads the databases you choose from your Notion workspace and turns them into flashcard decks. To do that, you connect your Notion account once and grant access to the pages you want to study. Here is the whole flow, step by step.
Tap "Continue with Notion"
On the app's login screen, tap Continue with Notion. A secure browser window opens with Notion's official sign-in page.
Notion Recall never sees your Notion password — authentication happens entirely on Notion's side.
Sign in to Notion
Sign in with the method you normally use for Notion — Google, Apple, email, or any other option Notion offers.
If you are already signed in on this device, Notion may skip this screen.
Choose a workspace
Pick the workspace that contains the databases you want to study. If you belong to several workspaces, make sure you select the right one here.
This screen also shows what Notion Recall will be allowed to do: view the pages you select, and view workspace users and their emails.
Tap Select pages to access to continue.
Open the page selector
Notion now asks which pages Notion Recall may access. Nothing is shared until you add at least one page here.
Tap Add pages & databases to search your workspace.
Select your databases — the important part
Search for the databases you want to study and add them. You can add a parent page instead, which shares everything nested inside it.
Only what you add here will be visible to the app. Anything you leave out will not appear in Notion Recall.
When in doubt, add the top-level page that holds your study material.
Allow access
Review the list of pages you selected, then tap Allow access. You are returned to the app, which now lists the databases it can see.
Check the ones you want to use — each becomes a deck. You can change this selection at any time later.
Troubleshooting
A database doesn't appear in the list
- Wait a few minutes. Notion can take a little while to propagate newly granted access. Pull to refresh or tap the sync button after a short wait.
- Check the access grant. The database (or one of its parent pages) may not have been added in step 5. See below for how to change what's shared.
- Make sure the item is an actual Notion database (table, board, gallery, etc.), not a plain page.
Change which pages are shared
In the app's database selection screen, tap the Notion connection banner at the top (the row showing your workspace name). This re-runs the Notion authorization, where you can add more pages or remove access.
Connected the wrong workspace
Tap the connection banner to reconnect, and pick the correct workspace in step 3 of the authorization flow.
